Most rehab treats golf like any other activity. It is not. The golf swing asks your body to rotate, separate the upper body from the lower body, load into the trail side, transfer force through the ground, and decelerate in under a second, then repeat it 80 to 100 times a round. If your hips, thoracic spine, shoulders, or ankles cannot do their part, something else pays for it. Usually your lower back, lead hip, or elbow.
Dr. Michael Smith uses Titleist Performance Institute screening principles and a full physical evaluation to find the body limitation behind the swing fault, whether that is early extension, loss of posture, sway, or a swing that has lost its speed. Then you get a plan that connects the treatment table to the practice tee.
Your care has to make sense in the context of your life and your sport. We look at how you move, what you are trying to get back to, what your schedule demands, and what has and has not worked before.
Plenty of clinics say they work with athletes. Very few can explain why your lead hip is the reason your lower back hurts on the back nine. Golf- specific evaluation and training is the core of this practice.
One-on-one means your session is actually your session. You are not passed to a tech, double-booked, or left to piece the plan together on your own. The same clinician sees you every visit.
No mystery rates. Visit fees, golf packages, and memberships are listed on the pricing page. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available for out- of-network reimbursement.

Golfers often do not need generic rehab. They need a plan that accounts for rotation, power transfer, mobility, swing demands, practice volume, and the difference between “I can live with it” and “I can play well.” VIP PT uses golf-specific evaluation and movement screening to understand how your body may be affecting your game and how your game may be affecting your body.
Whether you need pain relief, better mobility, more speed, or a structured progression from recovery into performance, VIP PT gives golfers a more specific path forward.
Our admin gathers the basics and answers your questions so you know what to expect before you commit to anything.
Your first visit is 90 minutes, one-on-one with Dr. Smith. Movement assessment, strength and mobility testing, hands-on evaluation, and a conversation about your goals and your sport.
You leave knowing what is going on, what the priorities are, how often you should come in, and what you can start doing today.
Every phase has a target. When you hit it, the plan moves forward. When performance goals remain after pain is gone, we move you into performance work.
A clear four-step process to restore movement, reduce pain, and guide a confident return to golf and daily life.
Your first visit is designed to understand your symptoms, goals, movement, training history, and the specific demands you need to get back to.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of what is going on, what the priorities are, and what the next phase of care should look like.
That may mean getting back to daily workouts, returning to competition, walking a course without pain, swinging with more freedom, or rebuilding after surgery.
“I came to Dr. Smith with low back pain that was ruining my golf game. After a few weeks of targeted work, I’m playing pain-free and actually hitting it farther. The one-on-one attention makes all the difference.”
“Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cares about getting you back to what you love. He took the time to understand my goals and built a plan that actually made sense. Best PT experience I’ve had.”
“After my ACL surgery, I thought I’d never feel confident on the field again. Dr. Smith rebuilt my strength and my confidence step by step. I’m back to playing soccer and feeling stronger than before.”
